Last year we didn’t get to enjoy the festivities of Halloween due to the pandemic and we couldn’t go out with our friends, not to mention we missed the best part of Halloween (other than the candy): the costumes. This year we can attend those costume parties that were canceled and show off our scariest, sexiest, and most outrageous costumes! However, if you don’t have the time to go and shop for a costume for this weekend, here are some DIY costume ideas that will make you turn heads as you walk into the party.

“Squid Game” (guards and robot girl)

If you’re obsessed with Netflix’s new show “Squid Game,” but can’t find a costume in time for Halloween, don’t stress because there is a way that you can still go as your favorite character just in time for this weekend. If you want to go as one of the guards from the show you’ll need a burgundy hoodie and sweatpants, a pair of black boots, black gloves and a face mask. Another popular character that many fans of the show are going as for this Halloween is the robot doll. This costume is very simple because all that it requires is a short sleeved yellow button up shirt, white knee high stocking, an orange dress or if you can’t find an orange dress you can still pull off the look with orange overalls instead. Then the final piece is some flats.

Wednesday Addams

With the upcoming Tim Burton series, “Wednesday,” being released on Netflix next year, Wednesday’s character is becoming a popular choice for Halloween. If you’re a fan of the Addams family movies, this is perfect for you. This costume doesn't require much preparation or planning. All you need is a black long-sleeved dress with a white collar, a pair of black tights and low black Mary Jane shoes and most importantly, don’t forget the long double braids. If you don’t already own any of these items you can find them at your nearest Target, Forever 21, or Hot Topic.

TikTok Logo

If you want to dress up as something that’ll make your friends laugh you should dress as the TikTok Logo. For this costume, you can wear a black t-shirt and print out the logo online. And the best part is that people love the app and they’ll immediately recognize you.

Original Witches

The last option on the list is a classic costume choice when creating a DIY costume. With most costumes, it is difficult to do a different rendition of a character, however, with a character such as a witch or a warlock, the possibilities are endless. For example, instead of being a regular witch, you could be a zombie witch, or a vampire witch. Here are a few tips to help you create your witchy look. If you choose to be a vampire witch this year, you could wear a lace black dress, combat boots, vampire fangs, and every witch needs a broom. If you choose to be a zombie witch this Halloween you could wear a casual black button down top, with a black skirt, and boots or sneakers and then for your makeup you could make half of your face as a zombie and use face paint from Party City or your own makeup from home. Since these types of costumes are ones that you can’t find in stores you can have a lot of fun with this and get creative.

Halloween only comes once a year so whatever you decide to go as, enjoy the originality and creativity that comes with the holiday. Happy Halloween!
