You want to share your relationship status with your followers, when is the right time?

Social media is a form of self-expression and it is a great way for people you don’t see every day to know what’s going on in your life — especially if you’re in a relationship. The challenging part of a relationship in the age of social media is determining when to make it IG official. That can be challenging when you and your partner haven’t been dating for a long period of time, or maybe you or your partner don’t feel ready to share your relationship status with everyone else yet. Whatever the case may be, there is always an answer.
I asked a variety of people when they thought the best time was to have their relationship become official on an Instagram poll on the MUD Instagram story. When do you make your relationship IG official? 94 percent of responses said that they would update their relationship status after a month of dating their partner while 74 percent said that they would wait until after they’ve been dating for six months. Sometimes people know right away how they feel about the person they’re with and feel comfortable to change their status after a month. Others might feel more comfortable sharing the news of their relationship once they’ve had a chance to really get to know their partner.
Before changing your status on IG, you and your partner should have a discussion about what the relationship means to each of you to avoid confusion or misunderstandings. The hard part about updating your IG status too early in the relationship is if you and your partner decide to part, you’ve got to change your status again. Then comes the awkward part: having to explain to people that you and your partner have broken up.
If you do decide you want to share your relationship status on your IG, keep this in mind: whatever happens in your relationship is no one else’s business. Being in a new relationship can bring a lot of excitement and whenever you decide to post about your relationship is up to you.
