With the recent news of Kim filing for divorce after six and a half years of marriage and four children, it’s only right to review the highlights of their iconic relationship over the last few years.

New Beginnings

In Kanye's 2012 song, "Cold," Kanye raps about being in love with Kim while she was still married to her ex-husband, former NBA player Kris Humphries. The two started dating that same year after Kim and Kris ended their infamous 72 day marriage.

In December of that same year, Kanye excitedly announced during a concert that Kim was pregnant with their first child and was due in June 2013. She later confirmed the news in a tweet.

"It's true!! Kanye and I are expecting a baby," she wrote. "We feel so blessed and lucky and wish that in addition to both of our families, his mom and my dad could be here to celebrate this special time with us. Looking forward to great new beginnings in 2013 and to starting a family. Happy New Year!!! Xo."

Engagement & Marriage

On October 21, 2013–Kim’s 33rd birthday–Kanye went above and beyond with his proposal to Kim. He rented out San Francisco's AT&T Park and popped the question in front of all their friends and family, along with the rest of the world watching.

On May 24, 2014, the couple tied the knot in Florence, Italy. They exchanged vows in a ceremony held at Forte di Belvedere, a 16th-century Italian fortress.

At the time, the Instagram picture Kim posted broke Instagram records!

Fun Fact: Kim’s 20 carat engagement ring is worth a whopping $4 million.

In 2016, Kim was robbed at gunpoint by men dressed as police officers in a private apartment. The robbers took two cell phones along with jewelry worth millions of dollars, including the engagement ring which was never returned.

A Family of 6

Over the next few years, the couple welcomed three more babies into their family. Their son Saint was born in 2015, daughter Chicago born in 2018, and their son Psalm welcomed in 2019.

Kim was very open to the public about her struggles with her pregnancies and their decision to use a surrogate for two of their children. They felt it was the safest option given what she had been through with previous pregnancies.

Joint Success

Both Kim and Kanye have their own thriving businesses; In June 2020, Forbes magazine listed Kanye as the second highest-paid celebrity of the year, earning $170 million! The success is mostly credited to his popular fashion line, Yeezy.

Kim has her own shapewear line called Skims along with a self-titled makeup line, KKW Beauty. Forbes estimated her net worth at $900 million.

In 2020, Kanye announced his candidacy for the 2020 presidential election, which seemed to be the beginning of the end of their marriage. Mental health concerns surrounding Kanye caused problems in their relationship. It later was revealed that Kanye has bi-polar disorder.

Kim and Kanye have supported each other throughout all their endeavors but ultimately made the decision to split up due to their difference in interests. Kim filed for divorce on February 19, 2021.
