Coming from someone who identifies as both Millennial & Gen Z, I'm so here for all the trends.
Permanent jewelry
This year I am really embracing the permanent jewelry trend (no, I'm literally obsessed). So I did what any girl would do: hosted a permanent jewelry party for my spin girlies. I meannn, it was a done deal once I found someone on IG who does house calls.
Picture, a big brunch display on a kitchen island with a mimosa bar (and edible glitter, of course). And my dining room table transformed with a setup for the permanent jewelry options on display. My house was essentially the jewelry pop up location.
Check out some glamor shots from the party :)
It was such a cute event that you should definitely try this for your next girls night or birthday party. There was only a minimum of 3 pieces required with the person I found, and it was beyond easy to hit with 10 girls. To put it in perspective I got 2 pieces for myself so we probably got a collective 15 pieces of jewelry. It was an added bonus when 6 of us ended up getting matching bracelets. Now I have a stack of 3 permanent bracelets on my wrist and I folded and finally got a permanent necklace. I was worried about always having a necklace on because I work out a lot and put a lot of lotion on my neck (hello skin care :)), BUT it has been a dream. I got a simple, gold chain and absolutely love always having a little dainty necklace.
All that to say, permanent jewelry: 10/10 recommend <3
Mocktails
I know, I know, it's very easy to argue that being "sober curious" isn't a trend, more so a movement. And I don't disagree. I'm noticing how common its become for people to opt out of drinking when they go out to dinner, and instead get a refreshing mocktail, myself included.
There's also something empowering about feeling healthy and wanting to keep that momentum up with a non alcoholic drink. Just the other day I went out for a celebratory drink with a few girls after a spin class, (yes, half of my personality is that I go to spin). Once we got to the restaurant and everyone ordered I honestly felt like I didn't want to drink because I had just worked out I wanted to feel clean and healthy. So I ordered a yummy mocktail cider spritz (along with 2 of the other girls), and it was kind of funny to see that 3/5 of us opted for non-alcoholic.
Spin class at night + a mocktail at dinner has become the equivalent of a morning workout + a smoothie.
So next time you go out or want a pick-me-up at home - go crazy, and choose a mocktail. Over time you'll feel cleaner, lighter, and let's face it, your wallet will thank you.
Wearing oversized clothes
This one is certainly close to my heart (as I've been rocking baggy since my senior year of high school). However, now I'm actually trying to make it look stylish, it's not just a lack of effort anymore.
I love love LOVE that we're in a fashion era where old trends are coming back, baggy is in, and you can break out so many bold looks. IMO the best baggy/oversized thing to wear is cargo pants, especially now that we're in Fall. I'm telling you, I could go to sleep in American Eagle cargos. It's honestly amazing how something so baggy and historically known as unflattering now evokes a sense of confidence. I can't be the only person convinced that cargo pants are actually incredible flattering in an effortless way.
Yes, if you look past the silly pretzel floaty you'll peep my favorite cargo pants on the right :) I'm also in my laser hair removal era, so I broke out my cargos a month ago.
And can we talk about how more and more girls are going out in cargos with oversized tees?? Being able to style baggy clothes is truly the epitome that hot girls can pull off anything.
Listening to Sabrina Carpenter
I know she is the biggest up and coming artist (or maybe you can't say "up and coming" because she has already arrived). But truthfully I don't go out of my way to listen to Sabrina Carpenter.
It's not that I'm not a fan, because I have been lowkey following her journey since she was in the movie "Adventures of Babysitting" a million years ago. I am absolutely obsessed with her and so impressed by the way she's blowing up. Also I'm so curious about her friendship with Jenna Ortega. I just often find myself wanting moody music or remixed songs. My current music vibes have been giving rooftop beach party in Ibiza (I know, whatever that means).
In the spirit of Espresso and Sabrina Carpenter, I drank about 7 Espresso martinis the other weekend after being awake for 36 hours (long story).
One thing about me that surprises people is that I'm really NOT a coffee drinker. I quite hate the taste, actually. I like coffee for the aesthetic (*insert laughing emoji*) and just love the idea of sipping on a coffee, in a coffee shop, and vibing with music while writing (as I am currently doing). I only really drink coffee when it's so sweet it's basically flavored milk, or in a martini with lotssss of Bailey's.
Anyway, I have been so inspired by her continued rise to fame it just might be my time to become an official fan.
Usage of Lavender
How can lavender be a trend? I know, sounds like a reach for this fifth one, but hear me out. I have been seeing lavender pop up more and more recently, in totally different applications. For example, at a spin class in Arkansas (lol, more on that another time), after the class the instructor handed out cool towelettes that were soaked and seemed like lavender. Same with another HIIT workout class - it ended with a cool lavender towelette. Okay, maybe it's just a post workout thing in Arkansas?
Regardless, the scent and flavor is such a vibe. The last two times I hosted I've included a lavender option with the mimosa station. I know I literally just hyped up mocktails one minute above this, but if you're going to have a drink do yourself a favor and make the next one you try a lavender mimosa (or a lavender mocktail). It is SO good.
Sadly, I haven't seen too many restaurants in CT offer a lavender mimosa option but if people realized how good the combo was it would really blow up. So you heard it here first: lavender = best 2024 mimosa flavor.
Yes, this is your sign to buy a bottle of lavender syrup from Amazon and make one.
Lastly, flower boutiques are obviously a cute vibe, but I keep seeing lavender boutiques. I guess it could be a cute decoration but I have a harder time imagining what to do with a bundle of lavender vs actual flowers that go in a vase. Regardless, I'm on the lavender bandwagon so I am here for it!
Until next time. Wear cargo pants to drive yourself to get a permanent bracelet, while listening to Sabrina Carpenter with a lavender mocktail.
xx
