23rd Birthday ft. COVID-19: A Photo Essay
23 is the middle child of birthdays. Two years after 21 (finally legal) and two years away from 25 (quarter life crisis). There really isn’t anything special about your 23rd birthday. Blink-182 made a good point when they said “nobody likes you when you're twenty-three.”
Turning 23 during a normal year can feel a bit uneventful, but turning 23 during a pandemic is even worse. No rooftop bars or champagne toasts, no gathering with friends or family, no drunk Ubers or drunk texts that you’ll regret in the morning.
Despite the pandemic, I tried my best to make 23 as great as possible. This is what my birthday looked like this year.
