Tour Diaries: MUNA at Newport Music Hall
Delivering a special kind of Y2K nostalgia, the American indie pop band MUNA brought the house down in Columbus with their high energy and dance anthems.

MUNA made a stop in Columbus, Ohio at the Newport Music Hall on their North American Tour for their self-titled album. The packed audience had the floor shaking from dancing the night away to the band’s multitude of pop anthems.
Lead vocalist Katie Gavin, guitarists Naomi McPherson, and Josette Maskin started creating music together while in school at USC. After nearly 10 years of friendship, the band is still as tight knit as ever, likening themselves to more of a family. This camaraderie is obvious on stage, the trio, along with their band, are having as much fun performing as the crowd is watching them.
MUNA’s self-titled third album released June 24th, 2022 to much acclaim. The album was the band’s first release under Saddest Factory Records, a label spearheaded by Phoebe Bridgers.
Bridgers accompanied MUNA in the cult classic song “Silk Chiffon,” which has amassed more than 31 million streams on Spotify since its release in late 2021. MUNA’s music and performances continue to be a safe haven for the LGBTQIA+ community, and will no doubt be one for decades to come.
