Since she jumped on the scene with her EP "Dressed Too Nice For A Jacket," Maisie Peters has been one of my favorite artists. Her ability to evolve through the years is unrivaled, mirroring the talent and skill of industry greats like Taylor Swift, Oh Wonder, and Fletcher. When she appeared on the cover of MUD earlier this year, I was able to learn more about the creative process of the talented twenty-two-year-old artist.
Every chapter of her life gets immortalized into her music, and she does it to let in the listeners so they can get to know her better.
With the release of her latest single, "Not Another Rockstar," it's confirmed that Maisie Peters continues to emphasize that she's entered her rockstar era. This song is fun and energetic, with the clever lyricism that has become somewhat of a signature to Maisie's songwriting style. During release day on Friday, TikTok went crazy with the song, using it as a sound for videos that depicted people letting go and having the time of their lives jamming out to this song. It's incredible to see the Maisie Peters effect continues to be as strong as ever, knowing that she times every release to perfection and it works out, no matter how different the song is from her previous work.
"Not Another Rockstar" was written by Maisie, alongside Innes Dunn and producer Joe Rubel. It follows a recent series of fan-focused releases that include her viral TikTok song "Cate's Brother," and sister singles "Blonde" and "Good Enough." Aside from showing the community that Maisie has created around her music, these songs explore the different aspects of a relationship through her eyes. "Blonde" was released in early August, and it carries some of the same "rockstar" elements as her most recent song. "Good Enough" is a sentimental ballad, a song where Maisie shares a vulnerable side that is different from her previous projects, but it's just as powerful.
