How I Feel About Designer Brands Making Pet Clothing...

You know those trends that we hope will never again see the light of day? Like feathers used as hair accessories or low-rise jeans.

Well, that’s exactly how I feel about pet clothing.

More specifically, though, luxury brands have been creating pet accessories that cost hundreds of dollars.

One example of this is a Versace raincoat that costs $325.

This raincoat comes in 4 sizes: small, medium, large, and extra-large and two of the sizes are completely sold out. It has a detachable hood with a silver zipper and a gold design on the back.

Not only do they make a raincoat for dogs, Versace also has a gold studded collar and leash set in addition to a dog bed priced at $1,295.

Don’t get me wrong, I can see why designer brands are creating pet clothing since it is becoming a more popular trend. But I just can’t justify spending anywhere from $325 to over $1,000 on fashion items for your dog.

Not only does the dog not understand what they are wearing, they probably don’t want to be wearing a coat at all.

I found this dog on Instagram @boobie_billie who is a doggie influencer. Not only does she have 280K followers, she also posts almost daily in different designer outfits and accessories.

This photo of Billie wearing a Fendi sweater posing next to a bag is adorable, I’ll admit it. But the shoes are where I draw the line. And let’s be real, from the look on Billie’s face she is not having it either.

In my opinion dogs deserve to be comfortable, not be put on display and have a job as a fashion influencer.

One thing I should mention is that I feel there is a difference between dressing up your pet for fashion purposes or putting a coat on your pet to keep them warm while taking a walk in cold weather.

But then again, as long as you are treating your dogs nicely, who am I to say what they should and should not wear (just maybe spend your money more wisely.)
