Avery Lynch Stuns With New Single, "Feed the Fire"

"Feed the Fire is about people in my life who I felt wanted to drag me back into situations I’ve moved on from."

It's been raining in New York for the past few days, and all I've been listening to has been Avery Lynch. There is a quality to her voice that keeps me going back to the same songs but for total different reasons. It's as though I keep discovering new parts of the story and details I'd missed before, so every replay lights up a different piece. But even though her songs are a great soundtrack to these rainy days, she also demands you to listen to the lyrics, to be aware and present when she's telling you a story. And she achieves that once again with her latest single and the first of 2023, "Feed the Fire."

For the first time in 2 years, Avery commanded the process of creating a new project and bringing it into the world all by herself. She told MUD, "I’ve gotten to be the one behind everything that’s happening for this song and it’s been so exciting for me and I love it."

For me, Avery's ascending has been a bit of a slow burn, but after "Feed the Fire" I'm positive that she's just getting started. If you want to be the witness of something great, then I suggest you keep up with Avery Lynch's journey like we will do.

We sat down with the 23-year-old singer songwriter to discuss the inspiration behind her new single and what she's excited for this year.

What was the inspiration behind your new single, "Feed The Fire?"

A: "Feed The Fire" is about people in my life who I felt wanted to drag me back into situations I’ve moved on from. You learn to not “feed the fire” in breakups and endings of relationships and just let people move on because exploding and lashing out only makes things worse. What I didn’t know, was that sometimes not exploding and lashing out is what can feed the fire. I moved on from these relationships and didn’t give the attention or energy to the people who were trying to suck it out of me, and it only “fed the fire." This song is about those people.

New year, new music. As we head into the new year, how would you describe who you are as an artist?

A: I just keep writing songs that excite me and that I love and want to share. As an artist I really don’t have any kind of plan or vision, I just know this is what I was always meant to do and I love it more than anything and everything.

Are there any upcoming projects/things you're working on that you're excited about?

A: As of now, I have a bunch of singles I can’t wait to release and I’m just gonna kinda go with it and see what happens! No project plan in sight, just releasing singles for a little while and hopefully playing live more.

This release is my first self-managed release in 2 years. I’ve gotten to be the one behind everything that’s happening for this song and it’s been so exciting for me and I love it. I don’t want to remain a self-managed artist forever but it’s been really fun and fulfilling to finally be a part of everything.
