From the entertainment industry to her role in the upcoming season of "High School Musical: The Musical: The Series," Aria Brooks can't be stopped.
Is there someone who influenced you to pursue a career as an actress?
Watching Skai Jackson on Jessie was inspirational because she looked like me. That's when I decided I wanted to be in movies and TV shows. Another idol of mine is Zendaya, and I also grew up watching her and continue to admire her career.
You star in the Disney + movie "Better Nate than Ever," which was released on April 1st. Portraying Libby, how would you describe her personality? Do you relate to her in any way?
Libby is very spirited and fun. She is confident and supportive of her best friend Nate, and I relate to her in those ways because we have similar energy.
You are joining the cast for season 3 of "High School Musical: The Musical: The Series." What is most exciting about being on this set?
I love getting to hang with the amazing cast behind the scenes. We have had so many fun off-screen moments and even off-set as well.
What advice would you have for young people who are starting in this industry?
My biggest piece of advice is to remain authentic and remain humble. I know everyone says to be yourself, but you must stay true to yourself because authenticity will read on screen and get you further. Humility is also necessary because it makes you more pleasant to work with.
What is your process for auditioning for a new role, and what is the hardest part of auditions?
I constantly research the project and everyone associated with it to get a better understanding of the vision. I learn the lines and say them repeatedly until I have them. Then, my mom and I analyze my performance to perfection. The hardest part is submitting the quick turnaround auditions. I learn lines pretty quickly, but I love spending more time preparing and getting to know the character a little better.
You are also an activist and a supporter of many amazing organizations. Tell us why it is so important to fight for what you believe in and stand up for those who maybe can't.
As my platform grows, I will continue to speak out about important issues. The more we educate ourselves and others, the more change we can make. Change is possible, but more people need to work to make that change happen.
Is there a fun fact or something about yourself that your fans might not know about you?
I am an actress, singer/songwriter, screenwriter, and content creator. I have been performing pretty much all my life, but I decided at ten years old to get into TV and film. Fans may not know I go to public school, and I coordinate with my teachers when I have to be out of school and make sure I complete all my work digitally while I’m on set. This semester, I’ve been back and forth between Atlanta and LA, so it is nice to have something normal to come home to.
