When I tell people, I've been with the same person for nine years, they gasp, shutter, or put their hands over their hearts in awe. I'm so incredibly lucky to be where I am now with my partner, but that does not mean it has always been smooth sailing. There's been pain and chaos, but there's also been so much love and wonderment. I wish relationships could be just like a fairy tale or a Nicholas Sparks film, but it is just not. You have to work hard for what you want and for the love you share with each other. This is my journey with my person, the love of my life, and my very best friend.
