With songs like "Believe When I See It," the new EP immerses the listener into a story through a captivating sound and Caleb Hearn's unique and poetic lyricism.
My goal with this EP was to make it feel like a story so that listeners could go on a journey with me when listening to it from start to finish. I really enjoyed going through all the songs I’d written and piecing them together. Even though all the songs were written at different points, I was able to put them together in a cool way.
I love seeing people interact with my songs in such a personal way. When people choose to use my music, it makes me feel like I’m on a more personal level with them. Tons of people have been posting TikToks to my music with their own stories related to the song. Watching their videos reminds me that we are all human and go through so many of the same emotions together.
When I started making the EP, I didn’t know what the title track would be. I knew I wanted to release a body of work, but after writing Where Do We Go From Here?, I didn’t know what direction to head. I began to write about whatever I was feeling at different points in the last ten months. Funny enough, the last song I wrote for the EP was We’re Getting Older, but after looking back on everything else I’d written, it all made sense, and I knew it had to be the title track. The song encompasses how it’s okay to move on and part ways with people, even if it isn’t easy.
My biggest influences are Alexander 23, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, and Chris Martin.
